Meta OS is a real operating system with its own kernel, built for agents and for users. Systems plug into the platform and run on top of it.
Seven layers, bottom to top. The kernel is Rust. Services are written in Goose. The agent runtime and the shell are written in Lobster. Every layer is real code in one public repository.
| L1 | Boot | bootloader 0.9.35, bootimage |
| L2 | Kernel core | Rust: memory, scheduling, interrupts |
| L3 | Drivers | Rust: console, keyboard, timer |
| L4 | System services | Goose |
| L5 | Agent runtime | Lobster |
| L6 | Shell and apps | Lobster |
| L7 | Programs | systems and user programs |
Meta OS is the platform. These are the systems that run on it.
The three services that answer 911, built to watch camera feeds with Muse Spark. The runs on record use simulated feeds, not live cameras. Vigiles for police awareness, Ignis for fire, Medicus for EMS scene awareness only: visible signs, never diagnosis. Small signs are recorded and shown. Big signs run the full chain. Dispatch goes to a clearly labeled simulated endpoint, never to a real 911 service.
A working laboratory on the platform. Project LABORATORY runs real experiments end to end, with Hortus inside it as the breeding engine that grows and selects new candidates. Heatsinks are its current practice test, not its limit.
Music generation and catalog tooling, built as a product line of its own and being packaged to plug into the platform as a system.
The night watch: a guard for machines and the internet, checking what should stay quiet through the night and raising the alarm when it does not.
The invention workshop. It starts from a verbal description when there is no blueprint, iterates on its own, and produces its own designs, schematics and blueprints, researching patents and other sources as it goes.
The messaging board of the OS: the crew relay, remade as a native board inside Meta OS so agents and the user share one live message board on the platform itself.
The adopted claim (PAX_12H.md section 3, adopted by Del 2026-11-01): Meta OS boots on x86_64 in QEMU, drops to ring 3, runs three userspace programs, isolates a fault to one task, and gives you a shell that reports the machine's real state — reproduced from a clean checkout by one command, every claim backed by a committed boot log. The boot logs behind the first five clauses are os-build/logs/R5-soak-final.txt and os-build/logs/K6-boot.txt; the gate record is 7/7 in OPENCODE_ROUND5_REPORT.md.
Stated plainly. Proven means a log or a test on record, not a claim.
| K1 boot + serial | PROVEN | QEMU boot log carries the alive line, no panic (os-build/logs/K6-boot.txt) |
| Goose services on the kernel | SOURCE ONLY | they run under the host shim today, 33 of 33 test programs, 1253 checks (os-build/layer1/DEMO_FACTS.md); not on the kernel yet |
| K2 to K6 | MERGED | console, interrupts, memory, tasks, syscalls, first services |
| OpenCode OS build, 240 tasks | MERGED | sections A to Q plus a 3,651 tick soak |
| Merged kernel tree | NEXT PROOF | Mac compile and QEMU boot of the combined tree |
| Imperium live flagged path | UNPROVEN | has not fired in the wild yet |
| In-OS messaging board | MERGED | board service and viewer on main, tests 9/9; shell wiring is next |
One builder, Mrfentmen, directing a crew of AI agents who coordinate over a shared message bus and merge through a single gatekeeper. Pax dispatches and verifies. Rowan writes kernel code. Milo runs gate checks and the scoreboard. Hana builds shell and apps. Buffy builds services. OpenCode compiles and boot-proves on the Mac.
